Long-distance move from Katy, TX to Miami, FL

The worst service I have ever seen.

Since loading, working with AMS has been a total nightmare. They failed in knowing how big the truck should be, and make me paid for a 2nd truck. Still today Im sleeping in the floor with my kids and my things haven´t arrived to Florida. Save yourself from huge problem and avoid working with this company. There is no customer service, and the whole experience is the worst nightmare you can ever experience.

Long-distance move from Savannah, GA to D Hanis, TX

Everything went really well.

Everything went really well. They were fast and efficient. The only constructive criticism I would offer is there were some scuffs and a deep gouge on the walls and I would have liked to have been told about it rather than find them myself. I understand it happens and wouldn't expect you to fix but I do think it should be brought to my attention. Otherwise it feels like it is being hidden from me.

Do Not Use These People.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY. They are misleading and they are not a professional full service mover as they self describe and advertise.
1. When picking a mover check their insurance out in detail
2. AMS will try to tell you they are professional movers, only one person works for AMS the rest are labor ready and are NOT PROFESSIONAL MOVERS, thus the reason why 3 is so important.
3. .60 cents per pound is not insurance, especially when their movers are not experienced movers. BEWARE OF THIS AS IT WILL COST YOU HUGE.
4. They do not have better prices. First of all they will not send someone to review the job and their Quality Assurance Process is total waste of time. I went through every item with detail and my bill still doubled.
5. If you are thinking they are more affordable than Allied or Atlas or Mayflower its because they are lying to you. When it is all said and done they are just as expensive if not more.
6. THEY ARE NOT COMPARABLE TO ATLAS OR ALLIED MOVING. ALL CONTRACTED PEOPLE, NO ONE WORKED FOR THEM BUT ONE GUY and he even told me he works for someone else also.
7. My claim process is total waste of time. They damaged thousands in furniture and basically give you to their insurance company and walk away. Obviously they do not care for their customers or their customers property.
8. They will only accept cash or certified check because the don't want to have arguments later and bills challenged. A PROCESS THAT CAN BE USED IN PROPER NEGOTIATION WHEN IT ALL HITS THE FAN.THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE RED FLAG TO ME AND TRUST ME YOU SHOULD REALLY BE LISTENING TO THIS PART. NO WAY TO RESOLVE A CLAIM WITHOUT AN ATTORNEY.

ALSO look up their business information (IE owner ship and address and traceable assets). Copy it all. They like to change their name often because they have bad reputation. I have saved it and this post will follow them forever.

Long-distance move from Colorado Springs, CO to Dallas, TX

Damaged Furniture.

This company is not professional when it comes to handling broken /damaged furniture. I received my custom dining chair that is worth $1,700 with a leg snapped off of it. I filed a claim and followed the procedure they asked, I received a reply from CSI Claims (The Third Party Hired) and the rep told me she would contact AMS to get it resolved for me. It has been four weeks and I still have NO REPLY! I was told that there would be full reimbursement for any material that was damaged and now no one will take responsibility. DO NOT USE THEM!!

Long-distance move from Thornton, CO to Pensacola, FL

Terrible Moving Experience.

I was considering using UPack or Pods for my long distance move from Colorado to Florida, but the quote Atlas gave me was reasonable, so I decided to go with them and save the hassle of trying to find people to help me pack and unpack the bins. The quote was still a bit higher than I wanted to pay, so I sold a lot of my furniture, since I was moving from a larger house to a smaller house anyway. Even after selling half of the furniture in my original quote, the movers on moving day told me I had 1550 cu ft versus the 1100 cu ft they quoted me, and they increased the price by $2000. Note that I did not see the final measurement, so I think they were lying about that, since I am guessing I came in under my original quote. If I move again, I will ask for proof of the amount of room I am using.
The movers (not the manager) in Colorado were nice and professional when packing. They laid out a floor protector, so my wood floors would not get damaged. They were prompt and got everything packed quickly. The movers in Florida, on the other hand, were very unprofessional. There was one who was professional and did most of the work, and the other two were not. They took many smoke breaks. My sister-in-law saw them dropping things off the truck, which explains the many damaged items. The manager was very rude and intimidating, and he did not do much to help. They left a lot of my furniture disassembled, including my bed and desk, and they left the couch in the living room standing on its end and my chair without its feet attached, so I had to get my brother to help me.
As I am unpacking, assembling, and moving furniture to its rightful location, I am continuing to find broken items, including the mirror from an antique vanity, which they left wrapped up in my living room - they did not unpack it to reassemble. In addition, a piece of the vanity is missing, so I cannot even reassemble it myself if I do get the mirror fixed. They also lost an antique rocking chair.
I have moved multiple times cross country, and this is the worst experience I have had. For the price, which was almost $8000 and wiped out my savings because they require payment by money order, I expected a lot more. Now I am wishing I had paid the $3000 and used UPack or Pods. If you have things that cannot be replaced and you care about making it to your final destination, such as antiques, I recommend a different moving company.

Long-distance move from Pacific, WA to Knoxville, TN

Praying our stuff arrives undamaged.

I will update/remove and re-post this review after our stuff gets here, but we felt the need to post this ASAP to warn others. This is a cross-country move, from Washington state to Tennessee

To start with, they sent a surrogate to our house, who walked through it with a phone camera and had someone in their office on the other side. It seemed a little weird (we talked to 5 or 6 different companies and everyone else either sent someone out or didn't give us a very specific quote), but we trusted they knew what they were doing. They didn't. The estimate came in ONE THOUSAND dollars under. I understand that estimates aren't exact, but they were off by nearly 20%!

As I mentioned before, we talked to 5 or 6 different moving companies. We ended up using AMS, because Oscar convinced us that everything would run smoothly. He also assured us that they are not a broker and are an actual moving company (I'm still very skeptical about that, but maybe there's some legal gray area there.) Here's a timeline of what went wrong.

First, they gave us a date that they'd be at our house to load our stuff. The week before, they said they'd be there on Monday, between 10am and 2pm. My wife pulled an all-nighter on Sunday night to ensure everything was ready for them. At 9:30am that Monday, they called to let us know that they wouldn't be there until the following day. They said that a previous job took a lot longer than they expected (which, given how far they underestimated our stuff wouldn't be surprising). The movers got there in a truck with a paper AMS sign taped onto the door (seriously, it was hastily taped on with brown painter's tape).

The movers themselves were fantastic. Everything was packed well and loaded quickly and efficiently. Absolutely no complaints there at all! However, when they arrived, they apologized for not being able to make it the previous day because, according to them, their truck broke down. So two different people gave us two completely different excuses as to why they weren't there.

Our contact, Oscar, assured us up and down that our stuff would arrive in around 8 days or so, and that it should get loaded the next day. We got an email a few days later saying that our stuff was scheduled to ship the following week. We don't know if it took that long because we never got any sort of notification when it actually did. We called customer service, expressing our frustration about everything, and just wanted to know what the status of our move was, and were given the number to the wrong driver (normally, that wouldn't be a big deal at all, but with everything compounding, it's just one more thing). We called back and did get the correct driver, who was already halfway across the country (and is in a truck with a completely different moving company's logo on it), and it looks like our stuff will end up arriving 12 days after it was picked up. Definitely not outrageous, and within the dates listed on the contract, but the lack of communication and the unreliability of the entire process has made us extremely frustrated.

We asked for a little bit of compensation. We asked for the amount they would have charged us had we not been ready when the truck arrived. Considering the fact that the estimate was so profoundly far off and either the driver or the customer service rep lied to us about why they were late, this seemed like a very, very reasonable ask. When we asked for that amount of money taken off, they pointed out how they were in the limits of the contract we had signed, which I fully understand and would be relevant if we were trying to take them to court over this (we're not, we're just very unsatisfied customers). They ended up offering us a whopping $100 off our $6200 bill. $400 would have kept me from writing this review. I probably wouldn't have recommended the company to anyone else, but we wouldn't have gone out of our way to try to get others to steer clear of them.

To be clear, our biggest complaints are a lack of communication, a total inconsideration to pick up on the scheduled day and then giving us different reasons why it happened, and then referring to the contract when we asked for some compensation.

I will update this review once our stuff arrives and adjust the stars accordingly, based on how that goes. As of right now, all we can say is that we feel swindled. Use this company at your own risk.

Long-distance move from Colorado to Texas

Worse experience ever.

I was contracted to pick up in Highlands Ranch, Colorado o 9/4/2020 - 9/6/2020, and deliver to El Paso Texas on 9/22/2020. They picked upon 9/7/2020 and then called me on 9/16/2020 stating that the driver finished with his delivery early and asked me if I was ready to receive my stuff. I was not scheduled to sign for my Townhome in TX until 9/21/2020, thus the reason I scheduled to deliver on 9/22. They then told me that since I cannot receive my stuff they will bring it back to Denver and they have 21 days to get it out to me. Why set a date of delivery if you are not going to honor delivering on that date. It is now 10/1/2020. The truck driver arrived late, the movers came separate, even later it was the worse experience ever. They were sliding my boxes on the ramp from the truck to the ground. Then putting them on the dollies to bring in the house. The lazy driver spent his time at the post office and in his cab.. mind you the people they hired were not from Atlas, but people they hired on Craigslist that they did not even know. The driver told them that they have 1 hour to get my stuff off the truck. There were parts missing from my Glass TV stand that they took apart that could not be put back together. They were delivering items that did not even belong to me. The driver kept threatening to not pay the workers he hired and did not manage them, then he wondered why they would not listen to him. He spoke very disrespectfully to me, that my son told him not to speak to me like that and they almost went to blows.. to a point that the police came to see what was going on. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE ALL ROUND!! They even charged me $500 more than what was estimated, even though I took several big furniture items off the list and added 5 boxes. Eric Garcia, the sales rep told me that I will be way under what was estimated. Boxes were smashed and several broken, looking like someone slit the edges of several boxes to see what was in them. No help from Nicole who I spoke with on the phone to request a supervisor or someone from Atlas come help manage these people.

Long-distance move from Colorado to Pennsylvania

Overrated and My Move Did Not Live Up to Standards

After living in Lakewood, CO for a year in a 2 bedroom nice apartment, I decided to move back to Wayne, PA where I had grown up with family and friends.

First, Atlas Moving Systems is a little bit of a twist of the name Atlas Van Lines. Beware: they packed my stuff ok, but I was told that my original estimate which I had done by my PC and over the phone with a sales rep, was under my current inventory. I can understand that, as it was somewhat a guess to estimate the boxes I would use, since I packed my own loose items. The add on in price however, was not explained well to me, and I was told that I would just pay the difference at delivery by the main mover guy.

That misinformation led to me wondering "Where is my stuff and when will it get to PA by truck?" So, I called customer service, and they told me that it was still at a warehouse in Denver, CO, and that it was being held up because I had not paid off the balance. Say what?! A lack of follow up on their part!!

Anyway, I sent them money via Venmo, and that got the stuff on the road. It finally arrived about 17 days after it was originally loaded, instead of 7 days. The guys who delivered my stuff were in such a rush to unload, that I had to tell them to assemble my bed. They failed to give me paperwork, and the lead mover was "money hungry" for my final payment to pay for additional tacked on charges.

After they left, I said to my brother who was helping me unpack, "Hey, they forgot my coffee table!" Later, I also discovered that they had failed to deliver a large box of nice kitchen supplies and other misc. items, a large box of my own artwork, and a large box of 2 very valuable framed and signed prints by the artist! When I called customer service, they told me to file a missing claim, and then about 3 days later, they emailed me and said that they could not find the missing items! Then, they told me to file a claim through a third party to get a reimbursement of lost goods. This can take up to 6 months.

My bike was treated roughly, my PC monitor which I had bubble wrapped, has cracked. They were much too rough with my things. They had broken the leg in half of my nightstand!

Please, take warning: the positive reviews will fool you. Be advised to choose someone more reputable. Thank you.

Long-distance move from Houston, TX to Silverthorne, CO

Working with Oscar Wilson and AMS in Houston, TX was AWFUL!

The AMS - Atlas Moving Systems Rep who we worked with in Houston last year was named Oscar Wilson. Basically everything he told me was a complete lie. He repeated this line several times during the sales process "we own all the trucks, we own the warehouse and we do not use any contractors". I asked very specific questions about the movers and if they were contractors or employees and he assured me they NEVER use contractors and only have direct, w-2 employees working for them. When the pick up truck showed up as a Ryder rental van I was worried so I called Oscar and he assured me the AMS truck had broken down so that was the reason for the rental truck. He lies so easily and so well that I believed him. When my things FINALLY arrived in Colorado nearly a month after the delivery window Oscar gave me, again it was a subcontractor who delivered our things in an 18 wheeler with graffiti all over it. The entire experience with AMS / Atlas Moving Systems was horrible. In the long month where I was waiting for my belongings to arrive, I would get a different story about when my items would arrive each time I called. It's maddening to be told over and over, week after week, "your things will be loaded on a truck this week and you'll get a call next week with your delivery date". Moving is stressful enough, do yourself a favor and DO NOT do business with AMS - Atlas Moving Systems or Oscar Wilson.

Local move within Texas

Nightmare experience.

We used Atlas Moving Systems for our move from Houston,TX to Roanoke,VA. The pickup happened on Nov 20th, 2017 and the estimated delivery date was Dec 2nd, 2017. They promised to deliver the shipment within 10 days but the contract was signed for 21 business days. We did not get any notification for delivery from Atlas in the first week of December. When contacted, the customer care rep informed that a driver was assigned and that we would be notified when the shipment was picked up from Houston. We decided to wait till the end of the contract date, January 1st,2018. But still there was no sign of delivery. When we got in touch with the customer care on January 2nd, she gave us the same status and did not have an ETA. The representative was rude beyond words and insensitive to our issue. She did not provide any definite answer and turned a deaf ear to all our concerns. We were in a state of fix and only when we threatened to take a legal route, did the manager(David) come on board. He was not able to provide a reason and took responsibility for the delay. Our shipment finally arrived on January 23rd, 2018 after two long months. The remaining amount $570 was forfeited by Atlas.
It is difficult to put in words the mental trauma Atlas has caused us. They failed to deliver the shipment on the promised date which made it extremely hard for us to survive winter. We did not even have the essentials and had to buy everything new. We were driven to a state of despair. We did not have any idea on when the shipment will be delivered. There was no ETA, they did not provide us the driver info and refused to contact the driver. The agony, the pain and the suffering caused is indescribable. We will never again commit the mistake of using the services of Atlas.
